“And the love that loves the love that loves the love that loves the love that loves to love the love that loves to love the love that loves.”

“And the love that loves the love that loves the love that loves the love that loves to love the love that loves to love the love that loves.” “Misery generates hate.” I moved to New York City three years ago today. It’s marked in my calendar, this seemingly insignificant anniversary, and it’s one that I wrote about in here last year (but, strangely, not the year before that), and here I am again using it as a justification to ramble through another post that I doubt many people will actually read. Except you, of course –– you’re reading it, and I thank you for that. During my third year in New York City I got into Sundance and lost one of my oldest and dearest friends as a result. I’m hoping that during my fourth year here I’ll figure out how and where to file this. “It takes your enemy and your friend, working together, to hurt you to the heart: the one to slander you and the other to get the news to you.” After You Left got accepted into a few more film festivals this week, which is always good news, although –– truth be told –– it’s all gravy after Sundance. But when I think back to when I was first submitting COVERAGE to festivals and waiting impatiently for its first acceptance, the success that I’ve had in the two and a half years since is relatively amazing. Speaking of which, COVERAGE got into the Detroit Windsor International Film Festival recently, along with four other films/videos I’ve worked on in the past two and a half years, which is also relatively amazing. So, for those of you who are keeping track (and my own sense of accomplishment), here is a full Official Selection list of my work to date… After You Left [director/co-writer/co-editor/co-producer] COVERAGE [director/writer/editor/co-producer] Goldstar, Ohio [editor] NICKCASEY –– “Bandages” and “Medicine” [editor/co-director/co-producer] (Links to some the films’ websites can be found in the sidebar to your right, and while you’re at it, please take a look at the recently redesigned onefjef.com.) Too Much – Sufjan Stevens
“Human kindness has no reward. You should give to others in every way you see. You should expect absolutely nothing from anyone. It should be your goal to love every human you encounter. All human suffering that you’re aware of and continues without your effort to stop it becomes your crime. Humans are always evolving. If you do one thing that if done by every human would destroy the world, that makes you Hitler.” |
