Finally… a gay cowboy movie starring Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal!

You can, nay, must watch the trailer by clicking here

I predict several Oscar nominations and at least one Golden Globe.

Are you being snarky? Because you seem like Sir Snarks-a-Lot here. Give gay cowboys a chance…

…and they will fuck each other.

Thanks for The Shins whilst I post my post.

Yeah, *ARE* you being sarcastic, Mr. Sarcasmo?

  • Brokeback Mountain

Now why am I gung-ho about this film without having even seen it yet? Well, here is a mainstream film where gay men aren’t going to be portrayed as big flaming ‘mo’s and aren’t simply just there to be the butt of the joke in some craptastic comedy. I…

  • Yeah, I saw that trailer a week ago. Now I’ve been camping with buddies a bunch of times, but really I haven’t been tempted to fall in love with any of them. Maybe it’s because they’re all obnoxious drunks, but really, what are the odds of two guys finding out they’re really actually gay in the midst of a camping trip? Now if Heath Ledger is straight, don’t you think he deserves a golden globe for acting well enough that he can make out with another guy while in character without blinking an eye? They like to give them out to people acting drunk or mentally handicapped, but this should prove how committed a guy is to his character.

Exactly. I mean, faggotiness IS just as big a disability as alcoholism and retardation, so it should be QUITE the acting challenge.

I don’t think that Brandon was implying that being gay is a disability, simply that a straight man portraying a gay cowboy might be considered an “acting challenge” by those who consider such things.

er…i couldn’t tell if you were being sarcastic or not either, but anyhow, i clicked on the link πŸ™‚ what ARE your actual cinematic feelings on the trailer/plot/prospects of this flick? the one thing that caught my attention was that the whole thing is a struggle that goes on…and on…and on…instead of being about a party one night or a summer fling. that part makes it seem maybe more real, and at the very least, more interesting.

although i speak not from film school experience…only from personal interest πŸ™‚
