If the people stranded in New Orleans had been rich and white, it would not have taken our government so long to get relief to them. As it is, however, it took five days, and I wonder how many people died because our government dragged its feet.

I used to think of America as a great country until relatively recently, but in recent years I started having some doubts. By seeing how they chose their President, how he handled the economy, how he made decisions about Iraq, Kyoto Treaty, still getting reelected, and now seeing what’s happening after Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana. My doubt about the country seems to be getting stronger every year.
